Classroom Management Self Assessment

Effective behavior management in the classroom is a challenge for all educators... and research has found it is (a) the most commonly cited reason for teachers leaving the field and (b) an area for which teachers often feel poorly prepared when entering the teaching profession.

This survey is being conducted by your School-wide PBS team as an effort to improve classroom support at your school. The purpose of this survey is not as an evaluation tool, the goal is for staff to use this as a self assessment to target areas for improvement in our own behavior management skills in our classrooms. The PBS team is going to look at the cumulative results for the entire staff and use that data to identify areas to target for staff-wide development and support. We urge you to be honest in your assessment of your own skills... no teacher is going to be doing all of these things effectively all of the time and there is always room for improvement... so please complete this survey keeping in mind that it is a self assessment tool.

We would like to complete this self assessment periodically (2-3 times/year) to monitor progress staff-wide and so staff members can also monitor their own progress. Repeated data collection will also allow for continuing use of data to guide decision making regarding areas for training and support pertinent to classroom/behavior management... as well as providing a basis for evaluating the effectiveness of previous staff development efforts in this area.
